My Meeting with the Governor
August 30, 2009
It was a big week for Governor Jim Douglas. Nah, I’m not talking about his decision to step aside after his current term expires. I’m talking about his excitement over the opportunity to have a little pow-wow with yours truly only days after rocking Vermont’s political world with his retirement announcement. Oops, I forgot, Jim hates it when I say he’s retiring. Moving on, he kept counseling me — he’s “moving on.” Of course.
After our little chat about his future, a photographer approached and wanted to document the moment. Douglas, being the considerate gentleman that he is, asked the photographer to hold off long enough to look me in the eye and ask this all-too-important question: “Are you sure a photograph with me won’t ruin your reputation?”
Yeah, it probably will. But I didn’t want to hurt his feelings.
Stay tuned for the specifics on our little chat. Hint: I’ve got big news.

You lookin’ starstruck, bro…I can’t wait…
Let me guess. Snarky Boy’s going to be the Douglas spokesperson for the remainder of his term?
douglas looks in pain. where and what is your left hand doing?
He was right. I do think less of you because of this picture. You should have run in the opposite direction. Seriously. Why give this poseur even a moment of your time?
Is he actually your father? You look alike in this pic.
Lighten up, “RR.” I’m guessing there’s some humor going on here.
We’ll have to wait and see.
Where is the humor?
It’s probably a photoshop picture.

“Yeah, it probably will. But I didn’t want to hurt his feelings.”
So,
your reputation is not as important than hurting his feelings?
What a sucker you are Michael….
Your reputation surely is damaged forever.
